This very popular area is bounded by Fairview Street to the north, the QEW to the west, Guelph Line to the east and the lake on the south. Burlington has unparalleled public access to the waterfront and much of that is found in the downtown area.

Spencer Smith Park, on the shores of Lake Ontario in downtown Burlington, features a wide promenade offering magnificent views of the lake, beach, and Skyway Bridge. Whether sitting on the breakwall, walking, cycling, or rollerblading, there’s plenty to see and do. Some features in the park include:

The city is also well known for its festivals, all taking place in the waterfront park: Sound of Music, Ribfest, Movies Under The Stars, The Children’s Festival, and more. Any night is a good night to be out downtown! Whether catching a theatre performance at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre or admiring art at the Burlington Art Gallery, entertainment is always close by.

Outdoor activities abound: take a cycle down the 23 km Waterfront Trail, walk along The Elgin Promenade or The Downtown Pier. In winter, head to the waterfront for a skate and a cup of hot chocolate. In summer, enjoy a picnic in Spencer Smith Park's 7-acre waterfront greenspace, playground, and splash pad.

Residents can enjoy all the advantages of downtown Burlington and benefit from proximity to GO Transit; Toronto is a quick train ride away. Downtown also offers access to major transit routes such as the QEW Toronto, QEW Niagara, 403 Hamilton, and Hwy 407.
