Midtown, until recently, would have been considered part of downtown. New development and growth in this area has meant that Midtown now has its own identity. The spine of Midtown runs along Fairview Street (and Plains Road to the west) and its heart is between Brant Street and Guelph Line. The west and north boundaries are the QEW.
With recent growth and development in Burlington in all directions, Midtown is now the centre of Burlington. Midtown is really the best of both worlds: it is a hop, skip and a jump from the beautiful lakefront and busy downtown, and it has access to major shopping centres, big box amenities, and great transit options. Midtown is in close proximity to the amenity-rich north for outdoor activities. For commuters, its central location is a huge asset along the GO Line, and for drivers, the major highway network heads in all directions.
This neighbourhood also offers a quaint community feel with its farmers market, established mom-and-pop restaurants, community gardens, and small village-style retail plazas.
It is an area on the rise for development and improved transit. The Paradigm Condominium development has put Midtown on the map with its master-planned residential community for almost 1,000 new residents. With well-respected developers actively building, Midtown has a big bright future!
